Chris Plekenpol graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1999. He served for seven years as an Airborne Ranger qualified officer. He deployed from South Korea to Iraq in 2004 as a company commander responsible for 100 men and 85 million dollars worth of equipment. Chris earned the Bronze star for his actions in combat, but would lose six of his men. Chris is an author and has written three books: Faith in the Fog of War, Faith in the Fog of War: Let Us Die to Make Men Free, and Stumbling Souls. Chris is also featured on the website, I Am Second. He also serves as the I Am Second Conferences Director and Campus Organizer. He graduates from Dallas Theological Seminary in May 2010.
