Since 1987, Mary Catherine “Kitten” Murphy has joined Champions for Life as a Teammate, Platform Guest, Coordinator, and Housing Director - not only across America, but also in Mexico, Puerto Rico, England, Brazil, Peru, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, South Africa, and the Ukraine. Kitten Murphy is truly a person for all seasons and situations. Kitten met Jack in 1975 at Florida State Prison while on assignment with ABC TV. She visited him in prison over 12 years. They were married after Jack was released in 1987 and have traveled with Bill & Mavis Glass and Champions for Life ever since. Jack “Murf the Surf” Murphy is an author, artist, sportsman, musician, and Christian motivational speaker who gained notoriety in 1964 for the jewel Robbery of the Century when he and a partner stole the largest Star Sapphire in the world and the J.P. Morgan gem collection from the New York Museum of Natural History. Murf spent 21 years in New York and Florida prisons. While at Florida State Prison, Murf met Bill Glass and his team. In 1986 he was released from prison on life parole and he immediately began with Champions for Life. In 2000, his parole was completely terminated. Working with CFL, Gospel Echoes, Good News Jail & Prison Ministry, International Prison Ministries, KAIROS, Time for Freedom and the Coalition of Prison Evangelists, Murf has spoken in over 2,000 prisons across America, Mexico, England, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Peru, Ukraine, South Africa and Brazil. |
