Miami, FL WOC Thank You Letter
What a great weekend! With 1,232 decisions for Christ made, and 1,340 other decisions recorded by teammates, 2,572 total decisions were accounted for! The Lord really blessed this Weekend of Champions.
In the years I played football, we always knew that the closer we got to the Championship games, the tougher the opposition. It’s almost the same playing ball for the Lord. The difference between football and the Lord’s work is that in God’s business, we just have to show up, set the table, hold the Fort, and collect the blessings; the battle has already been won.
That’s what happened in Miami. We had never been in the Miami jails. There were times when things did not go as smoothly as we would have liked, but everyone held on and the results are outstanding. The Chaplains and Staff were overwhelmed. We have already been invited back.
Head Chaplain, Dr. Jose Hernandez, was our gracious and enthusiastic host in the Miami-Dade jails. He has requested volunteers to call his office if they are interested in working with his Chaplains in the TGK Correctional Center, Women’s Detention Center, or Metro West Detention Center. Here are Chaplain Hernandez’s work numbers (786) 263-6150 and (305) 470-2871.
I was especially pleased with the leadership roles that Cleveland Bell and Yvette Forbes played in rallying local churches to participate. What Cleveland and Yvette did is the key to establishing an annual Champions Event like we have in Dallas, Fresno, Orlando, Chicago and other cities. We would like to add Miami to our annual schedule but it will take a strong local team to really make it happen. If you are interested in joining the team, contact Cleveland at 305-326-9799.
Another pleasant surprise was the addition of Big James Henderson to our Platform Guest team. James jumped into the game and wowed everyone. Welcome aboard Brother James.
The teams working the jails were absolutely outstanding. In the men’s units it was pod after pod and hundreds of salvations. In the women’s units it was dancing and laughs and tears of joy. In the prisons, inmates and officers have seen Champions Events for many years, but it always blesses my heart when older inmates and officers respond to the offer of salvation. At Broward CI, 2 officers prayed to receive Jesus Christ.
Special thanks to Pastor Joreatha Capers and the Ebenezer United Methodist Church for their wonderful welcome and hospitality. Pastor Capers is my kind of leader. She brought her church and led by example as she worked the harvest as a Teammate, sharing with many inmates. Thank you Pastor Capers and many blessings to you and your Ebenezer Team, it was our honor and joy to be a part of your family.
Ordinarily, we do a banquet and other fund raising programs to finance a Champions Event. In Miami, we had a few donors but we did not do any programs to cover the major expenses. I really need your help. Many people joined our First Team, if you did not please consider doing so (information enclosed), and please consider sending a financial gift to help us close out 2008. This is your ministry, thank you for making this important work possible. May our Lord of love richly bless you, your business, and your family.
In Him As Always with Love,

Bill Glass
