DFW WOC Thank You Letter
Thank you for helping to make last week, one of the greatest Weekend of Champions in our history!
Dick and Bonnie Abernathy and the DFW Local Team did an incredible job! Let’s review some of the exciting highlights:
- 1100 Teammates registered and 753 actually reported for duty – and 202 were Freshman!
- Former NFL great, Bruce Collie, returned as a platform guest, and a highlight of the weekend was when his entire family ministered to us on Friday night!
- There were a record number of decisions in many units
- We recorded over 3500 decisions for Christ – the most for a DFW Weekend of Champions in history.
- This represents a 38% decision rate … The Highest ever for a Prison Event (typically between 20-25%)
- Countless testimonies of divine appointments
- The Letourneau men’s Basketball team played the inmate All Stars at Lindsey St Jail.
In addition, former SEC basketball star, Stephan Moore, joined our platform guest lineup for the first time this past weekend. As he was sharing with the young men in the Henry Wade Juvenile detention center on Saturday morning, his mom was suffering an aneurism. Stephan was alerted to his mom’s condition, as he left Henry Wade. He rushed to the airport, and as he did so, he asked us to all pray for his mom, who was not yet a believer. However, by the time he arrived to Oklahoma, his mom had already passed away. Then he discovered the wonderful providence of God. Evidently, while Stephan was speaking at Henry Wade, Stephan’s sister was leading his mother through the prayer of salvation. Right after she prayed to receive Jesus, she was taken by life-flight to the hospital where she passed away. The program training manager at Henry Wade told Keith Davis to “be sure to tell Stephan that “his message on life without a father was “deeply impacting to the boys at Henry Wade, and to one boy in particular. And today Stephan told us, that his talk at Henry Wade was taking place exactly at the time that his sister was leading his mother in the prayer of salvation. This story reminds us that when we are busy about the things that concern God, then God takes care of the things that concern us. (Matt. 6:33) Please be in prayer for Stephan and his family as they mourn the loss of his mom, and also rejoice with us in this amazing “death-bed conversion.
Many of you have heard the words, “More teammates - more decisions. Let us look at Dawson State Jail for an example, with 1100 women and 1100 men on 8 floors. We sent 180 women teammates and 60 men Teammates into this facility, and the results were outstanding: 760 decisions for the women and 374 decisions for the men. This is primarily because we had enough teammates to allow each of them to spend quality time with the inmates. The bottom line is, that the more teammates we have, the greater the results.
I want to personally thank each of you for your dedication to attend this year’s DFW event. Would you please plan to join us for multiple events in 2009, and would you also pray about recruiting someone to attend with you as well. Enjoy your family and friends over the Holiday Season. We hope to see you in San Antonio in January.
With Love,

Bill Glass
